ARENAL PETITPALACE

The neighborhood

More central impossible

The street of Arenal is overshadowed by its proximity to Puerta del Sol. You should know that, although it seems unbelievable in Madrid, there was sand on Arenal street because there used to be a watercourse. Later it became a normal street that leads you to the Madrid of the Habsburgs through shops and unique stores.<\/p>

  • Puerta del Sol

    Puerta del Sol

Without a doubt, the symbolic center of Madrid and one of its most recognizable places in the capital of Spain. More than a square with attractions to visit, Puerta del Sol serves as a starting point: a symbolic and real kilometer 0 that connects travelers with madrileños, as well as the shopping streets with some of the most interesting urban singularities of Madrid.

  • Plaza Mayor

    Plaza Mayor

A living stage of Madrid and Spanish history, Plaza Mayor is the grand public square of Madrid, surrounded by porticoes and other historic buildings. Many are surprised by how it changes throughout the day between terraces for tourists and musicians, while for others it is a passageway while admiring its facade. In any case, Plaza Mayor is always a surprisingly lively square.

  • Ratón Pérez House-Museum

    Ratón Pérez House-Museum

For children and adults. The Ratón Pérez House-Museum is a small 100% madrileño experience where imagination wins the game. The museum recreates the universe of the famous character and his home, turning a childhood story into a curious and fun visit for children that is also surprisingly endearing for adults.

  • Gaviria Palace

    Gaviria Palace

Don’t be fooled by its exterior. Gaviria Palace is a building that hides much more than it seems from the street. Its architecture and large halls have hosted exhibitions and events, music, and concerts. Here, day and night experiences mix.

  • Eslava Theatre

    Eslava Theatre

Inaugurated in 1871, Eslava Theatre is part of Madrid's nightlife history. From its beginnings marked by hosting small genre works like vaudeville, cabaret, and zarzuela to the totem of nightlife it became since the '80s.

  • Chocolatería San Ginés

    Chocolatería San Ginés

The queues on the street are more than justified. San Ginés is a classic stop for locals and visitors. It is a must to eat chocolate with churros (or porras), especially when Madrid's night bids farewell. The charm of this chocolatería lies precisely in its link with popular tradition: San Ginés is (and will be) part of the life of central Madrid.
