With the arrival of the month of August, comes one of the regional events with the most style and tradition in the south of Spain: the Malaga Fair, gearing up and going all out with Flamenco in the background and the smell of delicious and traditional fried fish.

So, if you have chosen the month of August to disconnect from your daily chores and travel to this beautiful Andalusian city, you are to be congratulated because the hotels of Petit Palace in Malaga are located just a short walk from the place which the people of Malaga consider to be the greatest event of the year.

Different to other fairs held throughout Andalusia, the Malaga Fair takes place in the middle of summer and has a calendar of events which you cannot leave without having clapped your hands to the rhythm of guitars, wearing your flamenco dress or short suit, a must for your summer trip. (We can tell you a secret, you can rent them in shops in the centre of the city at a very good price!).

For those who have never visited the well known Malaga Festival, we must point out that it is the only Fair which has two different enclosures, one for the day and the other for the night. The ideal plan? Get to know both very well by passing by the most authentic booths, allow yourself to fall in love with the coloured lanterns and the special southern accent, which makes so special all the Andalusian cities.

During the day time, the action takes place in the Historical Centre of the city, so if you are following the route of Malaga Cathedral or shopping in the mythical Larios street you have no excuse for not visiting the Centre Fair. The incentives have no rival. Much more life in the streets, flamenco dresses coming and going, hot and cold finger food, fine wine and a lot of art. You should know that the booths in Malaga have free entrance and you are very welcome!

If after trying the best local wines you wish to prolong your stay at the Malaga Fair until late at night, do penance station at one of the delicious cafes in the centre and then set of for the “Real de la Feria”… better known to the citizens of Malaga as just el Real.

With more than 200 booths (we recommend that you use one of the many free maps that are offered to you), the Night Fair, is more beautiful than ever under the summer sky. If it is your first visit to the Malaga Fair you will not be able to give credit to the explosion of colour and joy that permeates throughout.

You do not know where to start? Don’t worry start with the municipal booths (most popular) and then let yourself go with the flow and visit the most striking and authentic of which there are many and very attractive. If you also have the luck to coincide with a live show, we can assure you that you will wish to return to Malaga very soon and for sure during the Fair!
