To find this place in our geography where you can do almost anything is much easier than you think, in fact we have the key and the name is Valencia. The capital of the Turia, apart from unique local fiestas and exquisite gastronomy, there are also exceptional natural places where you can disconnect from everything.
If you have decided on a lightening break in September and have chosen one of the Petit Palace in Valencia continue reading because today we are going to relate to you which are the hiking routes that you cannot forget to put in your diary.
Routes that will take you to the most natural side of the Spanish east coast with a countryside and panoramic views that are more than outstanding.
Valencia has areas that are ideal for lovers of hiking. Even though we are not talking about a prominent mountain range, the truth is that fairly near to the capital you can find unique areas where you can do some trekking and hiking at all levels (from basic to expert with different itineraries of diverse duration).
You only take a look at the web to check on the many (very many) options to choose from. Which are the best? We have selected three options that for sure will delight those who are looking for relaxation and nature in its purest state. The first is the Barranco del Infierno, to the north of Alicante and very well connected with Valencia.
Known as the cathedral of hiking, the Barranco del infierno is ideal for hiking throughout the day taking sundown as the final point. A route of approximately 14 kilometres, which can be covered perfectly in 4 to 6 hours and allows you to see some incredible images.
Our second option is more integrated in Alicante but with good connections to the capital, we are talking about Puig Campaña, a unique place which deserves its fame, full of caves and natural lookout areas with truly wonderful views of the sea. Although it is recommended for expert hikers it is true that there are areas which can be covered without any problem by those at an amateur level.
We will finish this review with one of the best hiking areas of Valencia with a route through the Natural Park of Penyagolosa, near to Castellón. Also, it is more affordable for less experienced hikers, the routes of Penyagolosa are beautiful and offers not only incredible views but also areas of lakes, high mountains, large green meadows… everything and more to disconnect and enjoy indigenous nature in its purest state.
