To discuss about Seville for many is to talk about the April Fair, bull fighting and about the most pure flamenco, but it is true that the Sevillian capital is full of small details that make it unique, special and authentic. What details are we talking about? Very simple: the braces for men’s trousers, the coral earrings which the women from Seville wear with such relish, the short boots which are worn during the Rocio and also the fans.

Considered authentic works of art by many, the fans are much more than just a fundamental complement in a woman’s handbag in Seville, they form a part of the profound Andalusian spirit which is felt so strongly by everybody who knows Seville. Elaborated from high quality wood and hand drawn with great care, all you need to do is take a walk around the streets of the city and you will find an excellent shop selling fans…..

However, the best (without a doubt) are those to be found in the mythical Sierpes and Tetuán streets.

It could be from our hotel Petit Palace Canalejas Sevilla, from the Petit Palace Santa Cruz or perhaps the hotel Petit Palace Marques Santa Ana, that it is true to get to these streets is simple and extremely gratifying (because you pass by the most beautiful areas of the city). Just take Constitution Avenue (Avenida de la Constitución) in the direction of the Duque Square (Plaza del Duque) which will take you directly to both streets. Once you are there, which are the best shops?

  1. Diza-Dizal-Zadi: The establishment is situated in Tetuán street and with two specialist centres in Sierpes street, it is considered one of the most authentic in the city. Here you will find thousands of different colour fans produced anonymous artists as well as very high quality fans at an excellent price. Please take note of the exact address: Calle Tetuan 5 and Calle Sierpes 48 and 75.
  1. Juan Foronda: From fans made of wood to others of excellent quality, handmade of lace or special fans for brides. In the shop Juan Foronda in Sierpes street you can find some really beautiful examples. You should make sure you visit this shop if you are looking for a truly luxurious fan. (Yes, the price will be high but with exceptional quality).
  1. Abanicos Diaz: Another authentic and unique shop in Sierpes street, is a temple for those who are looking for pretty and original fans. With an exceptional catalogue of wooden hand made fans, Abanicos Diaz are famous not only for their fans but for their wooden walking sticks and traditional Spanish head scarves made of lace or silk.
