Ready, Set, Go! Madrid is preparing to welcome thousands of runners that every year travel to the capital of Spain to take part in one of the most important races in the country. It is the Rock’ n Roll Madrid Marathon. Yes, you read it correctly, rock and roll and running, all of this in a single event that results in one of the entertaining sports events of the year, which will take place on the 26th of April.
What makes this marathon special above the other marathons is, without a doubt, the inclusion of music as one of the main protagonists of the event. Along the entire race course 20 stages will be set up, where 22 rock and roll bands will be playing live that, apart from entertaining, will boost the morale of the brave participants.
Besides the entertainment, this event is also extremely demanding. We cannot forget that it is a marathon and a race of this type is not fit for everyone. Specifically, there will be three types of race: the marathon, the half marathon and another modality of 10 kilometres.
Those who aspire to run the marathon will face no less than 42.95 kilometres and must be concluded in a maximum of six hours. The half marathon will consist of a race course of 21 kilometres to be completed in a maximum of 3 hours, while the 10 kilometre race has a maximum of 1.5 hours.
But the music and the adrenaline is not the only exciting part of this race. Another thing that makes it so special is that this urban route passes by some of the most emblematic buildings in Madrid, so the effort of the runners is rewarded with the possibility of contemplating some of the architectural jewels of the city.
The race begins at the iconic Fountain of Cibeles and continues through Paseo de la Castellana, the Bernabeu Stadium, the Puerta del Sol, the Royal Palace, the Casa de Campo and the Manzanares River, among other places, to finish in the beautiful Retiro Park. The race course can be considered as a complete guided tour.
Do not miss this chance and come to Madrid to see the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. Whether you are taking part or if you are cheering, you will certainly enjoy this event. Hurry up, it is almost time! Ready, set…
