The 12th April is coming and what does this mean? Yes indeed, it is the start of the April Fair in Seville and with it starts a week of complete Sevillian style ambiance, with “sevillanas” (dancing) and “rebujito” (white wine and Sprite) under the cover of the booths of the different neighbourhoods and districts.
Although a visit to the city of Seville during the Fair is not recommended because most of the emblematic places are not open to the general public, it is true that to live the experience of the April Fair marks a before and after because we are talking about one of the most emblematic and authentic events of our country. If you have decided to set foot in this wonderful city during this time (having as your base a Petit Palace hotel in Seville you really should not miss a visit to the “Real”.
How to enjoy the April Fair to the maximum? Today we will give you all the details:
- Dress up in the local costumes: Of course, we are not going to buy a traditional flamenco dress or special suit for the gentlemen just for a 3 or 4 day visit to the April Fair but why not rent what you need from one of the many shops in the centre of Seville, to help get you in the mood to live the Fair to the fullest?
- Remember never to arrange to meet somebody at the entrance: One of the biggest errors is to arrange to meet your fellow travellers at the “portada” (entrance) to the April Fair. Although you could assume that this is the most normal place to meet, in fact we are talking about a place where thousands of people pass by and it is really impossible to see anything.
- Get a map and check out each booth: Although for the locals moving between the different streets that are home to the April Fair, it is not a problem, but for visitors it can be an authentic drama. How to be sure? Study the map of the fair, localizing the places or booths you want to visit and also be aware of the fact that the majority of the booths are private.
- Find the taxis ranks and the bus services: One of the worst moments that any visitor can experience during their first visit to the April Fair, is trying to find public transport to get back to the hotel. In order not to walk in circles or look for bus stops that do not exist, in the early hours of the morning, there is nothing better than being prepared with the information regarding the buses that will take us to our destination.
