At this time in autumn when the sun and beach are beginning to be just memories, is when travellers start to look for cultural trips to enjoy in their free time.  Barcelona is very lucky to have a complete and varied offer of cultural events for all tastes which makes the county city the perfect option for an autumn getaway.

Jazz lovers have a good excuse to visit Barcelona this autumn because between the 10th October and the 29th November there is the 46 Voll-Damm Barcelona International Jazz Festival.  During these dates at different locations throughout the city there will be multiple concerts with different styles and proposals with a long list of well-known jazz musicians such as Jaques Morelenbaum Cello Samba Trio, Vicente Amigo, Wayne Shorter Quarter or the Orchestra of Jazz Matosinhos.

Alternatively during the month of October in Barcelona is the third edition of the Salmon Dance Festival.  During two weeks local and international artists will exhibit their different art forms, dance, body and movement.

The theatres in Barcelona are also offering an interesting selection of plays in October,  two of which are  “The strange couple” and “Men are from Mars and women are from Venus”.  In the first one two middle aged men who are completely different are forced to live together in the same apartment which is a challenge for them.  This is showing at the Condal Theatre (Avenida Paral-lei, 9) until the 2nd November.  The second play is an adaptation for the theatre from the popular self-help book.

During the weekend of 24th/25th October also taking place Is the 48th Open House Barcelona.  This is an architectural festival where various professionals offer guided free visits to historical and original buildings in the county capital. A wonderful opportunity to get to know the most significant architecture in Barcelona.

If you are a person who enjoys food, we suggest that you visit the 5th edition of the “Market of Markets”.  It is a gastronomic fair dedicated to Spanish cuisine and where Catalan culinary art is the protagonist.  It takes place from 17th to 19th of October in the Avenida Catedral de Barcelona.

If you are visiting the county capital this autumn we recommend that you stay at one of the Petit Palace Hotels in Barcelona from where you can easily visit attractions in the city such as Las Ramblas.
