In addition to its special colour, art, proximity to good, hospitable people and for its beauty, Seville once again, in the last few months has been on the tip of everybody’s tongue, thanks to the latest and most popular TV series: Game of Thrones.
If you have decided to spend a few days of summer relaxing in the Sevillian capital you should bear in mind that, on this occasion, it will not be enough to climb the Cathedral of Seville (the popular Giralda) or visit the always mysterious Torre del Oro. During your walks through the orange blossom city, you will need to find some extra hours to visit the other Seville, the Seville of Games of Thrones… which has served as a luxurious backdrop to recreate certain scenes of the kingdom of Dorne and some shots of Merin city.
You should concentrate on two specific locations: Seville capital and the historic village of Osuna. Have you chosen to stay at one of the hotels of Petit Palace in Seville? If so, you will be less than 500 metres from the virtual kingdom of Dorne and the beautiful Water Gardens. In order to pass to this new dimension which mixes reality with fiction, you must visit the Royal Citadel of Seville, because it is there, according to the story, that the royal blood of Dorne stays overnight (in the TV Series).
If it is the first time you have visited this incredible palace of Moorish and gothic style (the oldest in Europe) you will be impressed by the beauty of its natural architectural ensemble. You already know it? Skip the official route and in the locations used in the series recreate your own (actually the new official guides of the area during their explications contemplate this action).
Two specific points of the fictional Kingdom of Dorne have created their base there: part of the capital of Lanza del Sol and the Water Gardens, areas that have been filmed in the Citadel gardens, in the Fuente de Mercurio (Mercury Fountain) and the Maria de Padilla Baths or Pedro I Palace’.
The second stop of the series is around 80 kilometres away in the village of Osuna. Once you have crossed (virtually and always according to the fictional universe of George R.R. Martin) the Angosto sea, you arrive at Meereen, the kingdom of Daenerys Targaryen, the popular Queen Khalessi.
In Osuna the protagonist was the bull ring, famous for its history and the characteristics of the stone used in the construction (the specific point that fascinated those responsible for finding locations). The bull ring was converted into the Daznak trench during a few weeks, the biggest and most popular point of combat (and divertissement) in the city and where the main SCENE (yes, in capitals) of this last season was produced. (Don’t worry we will not divulge any secrets and, if you have not yet seen the series, we will leave you to enjoy the moment in question).
If you want to know all the anecdotes and curiosities make sure you contact the popular guide Pepe Pallares who has created a specific route for lovers of the series with all the details of this part of the series that came to life in Seville.
