Everything you need in your backpack for BBK Live

We say goodbye to the first month of summer and welcome July, a month when we normally take our holidays, when our skin tone starts to darken and we change our sandals and handbag for sports shoes and a backpack. The motive? The time of festivals is here, when we enjoy ourselves to the maximum, at least, that is what it says in the manual of the “authentic festival participant”.

With the Barcelona Spring Sound and the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid, still in the eye of the most devoted music lovers (both took place at the beginning of June) the engine begins to warm up for the festivals this month. Which is the most prominent and multitudinous of all? There is no doubt that it is BBK Live, the festival which converts Bilbao, the capital of Vizcaya, into the centre of attention from the 7th to 9th July.

On the tenth anniversary the festival, which occupies the slopes of Kobetsmendi, promises a before and after in its trajectory after deciding to include international bands, such as Arcade Fire, New Order, M83, Tame Impala, Foals and other national bands of the calibre of La Habitacion Roja.

How to enjoy the festival as never before? Fill our backpack with the essentials to live a few days like authentic festival participants, leaving at our hotel those items you do not need. Lets check the most important items?

  1. Cash: Although many festivals use electronic bracelets (with which you can pay after charging them with an amount), to enjoy BBK Live without any worries or unexpected problems, nothing better than to use cash. Where can you keep your credit cards and other personal effects? If you are staying at the Petit Palace Arana Bilbao you can leave them with total tranquillity in your safe.
  1. Check the timetable of the concerts: At festivals such as BBK Live it is a characteristic that it is difficult to stick to the timetable completely, therefore you need to decided which are the concerts that you really want to attend. How can you check the timetable? That’s easy, use the iPad that you will find in your room at the Arana Bilbao.
  1. Enjoy the city before the concerts: To get yourself in the mood for the evening and enjoy everything that Bilbao has to offer, nothing better than to use the morning by the river (Ria) or along the slopes of the Kobetsmendi.

Our recommendation is that you book one of the bikes that are free for hotel guests at the Petit Palace Tamarises and you loose yourself (for a few hours) in the historic old town of the city.
