With Christmas just around the corner, the main cities in Spain are already completely decorated to convey the magical atmosphere of Christmas. And, as it could be no other way, all the typical Christmas activities are back, as is the case with the traditional Christmas markets in Barcelona.

Every year, many Christmas markets are set up in different parts of the city as well as in the rest of the province. In the city of Barcelona, three markets stand out above the rest for the large number of stalls and the number of people that visit them.

The Christmas Market of Saint Lucia is probably the most important one. This year, the market celebrates its 228th anniversary, so you can imagine how legendary it is in the city, after so many years of tradition. It will be available to visit until the 23rd of December in Plaza nova, next to the Cathedral’s Square, in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona.

There, you will find all kinds of figures for your Nativity scenes, Christmas trees and Christmas decorations. It is usually divided into four sections, with nativity scenes and figures, trees and other plants, Christmas crafts and musical instruments. Even if you don’t need anything, it is worth visiting the market and enjoy its Christmas atmosphere.

On the other hand, in Barcelona it is also very traditional the Christmas Fair of the Sagrada Familia, which is located on Gaudi Avenue, in the Eixample neighbourhood of Barcelona. Up until the 23rd of December, you will find in this market many stalls selling traditional items so that you can take home a piece of the Christmas spirit.

If you visit Barcelona for Christmas you can’t miss the Fair of the Kings of Gran Via, also known as the Christmas Fair of Gran Via. This market is set up between the Entença and Muntaner streets, where it will be open to the public from the 19th of December to the 6th of January. Here, you will find both, toys and all kinds of handicrafts.

If you have the opportunity, we recommend that you take a walk around Barcelona’s Christmas markets and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere that covers the city.
