If there is a city that is worth discovering (and rediscovering), by land, sea and air, it is without a doubt, Barcelona. A place full of undisputed jewels and a unique destination in the world, loved equally by locals, tourists, adults and children. A visit to the county capital during the month of May is the ideal option for all those who wish to avoid the normal hustle and bustle of summer. If this is your case, get to know the Petit Palace Barcelona or the Petit Palace Museum, charming central hotels with many extras for those travelling alone, with a partner or the family.

How about discovering Barcelona by bicycle taking the route along the coast line? A perfect plan for those who already know the city and want to enjoy it in a different but equally as charming way. Obviously to do this you need to rent a bicycle and we recommend that you choose one with the necessary equipment to enable you to spend an enjoyable day cycling. Once you are fully prepared and decided about cycling along the city’s coast, you need to map out the route. Which are the most recommended?

  1. Route from Barcelona to Vilassar de Mar: This route is perfect for those families who love cycling. Easy and with a distance that is less than twenty five kilometres, taking you to Vilassar de Mar, with its long maritime promenade, full of palm trees and small bars and restaurants. Also, if it happens to be a very sunny day make sure you take a short break to recuperate strength at one of the small “tapas” bars along the way.
  1. Parc Forum Route: Although it is well known as the enclosure where the Spring Sound Festival takes place, the Parc Forum is the ideal place to get to know the Barcelona that sleeps next to the sea and you will have excellent views of the city. You will go through an area that is totally pedestrian and you can stop at such places as the Museo Blau (Blue Museum). A perfect route to travel with children and particularly suitable because of the many parks located in this zone.
  1. Mataró Route: The most authentic coastal route of all those you could take in Barcelona is that which leads to Mataró. The route is longer than the previous two (a total of 54 kilometres), perfect for experienced cyclists. Although the route is intense (you need to be well prepared), you will be compensated by the beautiful beaches of Mataró or the views of the port.
