Two weeks. The time remaining for Barcelona to vibrate one more year with the bands and musicians attending the Primavera Sound Festival, one of the most important music festivals in Europe. Thousands of people and music festival enthusiasts will travel to Barcelona to attend what many have labeled as the festival of the year, a fame that has been earned year after year. The organizers of the festival have managed to include some of the most popular bands in the world, as well as upcoming new young bands. A diverse festival, complete and never, ever disappoints.
It will take place between the 28th and the 30th of May at the Parc del Forum in Barcelona, where the festival has been located for over a decade. This year marks the 15th anniversary with the expectation of exceeding the number of attendees from previous years. In 2014, roughly 190,000 people gathered at the Parc del Forum, we will have to wait to see if this record can be beaten!
The days before the festival there will already be several events that have been programmed throughout the city, the festival will kick off on Thursday 28th, when bands such as Antony and Johnsons, James Blake and The Black Keys , Los Punsetes or Sun Kil Moon, will be performing.
On Friday, the festival will already be in full swing, the muse of punk Patti Smith will radiate Barcelona with the reinterpretation of ‘Horses’, the album that catapulted her to fame four decades ago and which she has decided to rescue and celebrate its anniversary. But she will not be alone, this day will see the performance of many other artists such as Alt-J, Sleater Kinney, Jose Gonzalez, Damien Rice or Ride.
For Saturday, the festival organizers have arranged for some of the most awaited performances, including The Strokes, a second performance from Patti Smith who will be back on stage to offer a second show, this time an acoustic version. You can also see on the same day the bands Interpol, Caribou, Swans, Underworld or Les Ambassadeurs, among many others.
It will be a total show, one of this year’s events in Barcelona and to which you still have time to attend. Do not miss this opportunity! And if you visit the city of Barcelona to attend the Primavera Sound festival, we recommend you stay in one of Petit Palace’s hotels in Barcelona where you can rest peacefully and visit the main tourist attractions of the city, such as the Boqueria market or Las Ramblas.
