Barcelona never sleeps. It is a destination with day and night time leisure activities that situate it indisputably in the top three of the great capitals of Spain. Barcelona is accessible, beautiful, large but manageable, ideal for all tastes and alive, very alive.
If you are thinking of taking a few days relaxation why not visit the capital of Catalonia. If you want to be in the perfect place to move around, make sure you gather information of what is on offer from the Petit Palace hotels in Barcelona.
Although in Barcelona everything is perfect or almost perfect (public transport, local character, gastronomy) it can be complicated choosing the events or leisure activities you wish to participate in. For this reason we are advising you of the most outstanding events in October. Enjoy them!
* Sitges Film Festival: or as it is known, the Festival de Cine de Sitges, the highlight of this month. If you like fantastic cinema, original people and an exceptional film lovers atmosphere, you should go to Sitges (just a short journey from Barcelona). The films on offer are impressive, the prices for individual or season tickets are reasonable (there are free projections of well known films) and the environment is perfect. What more can you ask for?
* Barcelona Architecture Festival: the promotional name is 48H Open House BCN and it is true that the event is a lot more than this. During two days, 24th and 25th October, world famous architects will take guided tours (many of which are free) around architecturally outstanding buildings in Barcelona. This has already taken place in London and New York, so you really should not miss this during your visit to Barcelona.
* Barcelona Boat Show: the favourite place for lovers of the sea and boats. The Fira de Barcelona is the base for the Boat Show which is much more than just boats, it is a place to enjoy all activities related to the sea. Workshops, exhibitions and other activities both big and small complete this show that takes place from 14th to 18th October.
* Market of the Markets: as we have mentioned cinema, art and sport, last but not least, we need to mention gastronomy and Barcelona. The Market of Markets is from 23rd to 25th October and Cathedral Avenue fills with market stalls (the most authentic and specialised) selling delicious fresh local and international produce.
