Of all the benefits that Barcelona has (and these are many and well known) we cannot forget the museums and art centres. It is a fact that Barcelona is itself a work of art and this philosophy permeates throughout all of the galleries, therefore, your visit is a must during any trip to the Catalonian capital.
When travelling as a couple, the planning is simple (just tick which museums, galleries or collections you do not want to miss) however, it is true that when travelling with kids it is more difficult to organise. Will we have to miss out on art in Barcelona? Absolutely not especially if you stay at one of the Petit Palace hotels in Barcelona, perfectly connected to the most emblematic places.
If in your museum diary you have marked in red a visit to the Contemporary Art Museum of Barcelona, the popular MACBA, don’t worry about your children because during the year they organise lots of activities for them. Another ideal option is to visit some of the 14,000 works of art on show at the Miro Foundation while your kids can enjoy themselves at the interesting children’s workshops for painting and sculpture.
Easily connected with Catalonia Square you will find an entertaining, enjoyable and delicious option: the Chocolate Museum. This museum (where chocolate abounds in every corner even finding its way to the entrance tickets) the youngest members of the family will enjoy seeing well-known historical figures with chocolate bodies. With flexible opening times and prices (yes also in summer) not everything is enjoyment because at the same time that they are eating quality chocolate, the children also discover unique curiosities about this fascinating food.
Along the same line although a little further from the centre of the city (and in the district of Sarria Sant Gervasi), you can enjoy an afternoon with your children at Cosmocaixa Barcelona. A centre for children and adults where they can get to know all about science, geology, and biology but from an interactive point of view.
We can finish our afternoon of museums with the little ones visiting the Barcelona Design Museum: an art centre which came to life due to the union of various collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts, the Ceramic Museum, the Graphic Arts Cabinet and the Textile and Costume Museum.
This popular museum, located near to the unusual Torre Agbar, has various children’s workshop that will allow you to visit the collections while the children are entertained and familiarized with art in the city
Barcelona is a unique destination for couples or those with children, if you want to visit the best museums and relax in an hotel located in the heart of the city, we recommend the Petit Palace Opera Garden, near to Las Ramblas and well connected to all the highlights of the city.
